  • When stress goes on for a long time, it becomes chronic stress.
  • Because of this, a person cannot think properly and cannot do daily work well.
  • When someone feels completely tired in body and mind due to continuous work and stress, this state is called burnout or “burnt out”.

Effects of Burnout

  • Physical: back pain, headache, weakness, feeling very tired.
  • Psychological: feeling tense, easily angry, sad, helpless, and forgetful.
  • Health risk: work becomes disorganised, more mistakes happen, and relations with others get disturbed.

  • On stressful days, simple work like cooking takes more time.
  • The quality of work becomes poor (for example, forgetting to add salt, making more mistakes).
