Square Numbers and Their Formation

A square number is simply a number that you get when you multiply a number by itself. For example:
- 2 × 2 = 4
- 3 × 3 = 9
- 4 × 4 = 16
- 5 × 5 = 25
Imagine you have a set of dots and want to arrange them in a square shape. For instance:

If you have 4 dots in each row and 4 rows, you’ll get 4 × 4 = 16 dots, arranged in a 4 × 4 square.

If you have 3 dots in each row and 3 rows, you’ll get 3 × 3 = 9 dots, arranged in a 3 × 3 square.
So, the number of dots you get from multiplying a number by itself will always form a perfect square shape, and those numbers are called square numbers.
