Introduction

Mensuration is all about measuring the size of things around us—length, area, volume, and more. Understanding this helps us manage our day-to-day lives, from building houses to buying groceries!

CISCE: Class 6

Plane Closed Figures

A Plane Closed Figure is any flat, geometric shape whose boundary lines (straight or curved) start and end at the same point, completely enclosing a part of the plane.

CISCE: Class 6

Region of the Figure

The Region of a plane closed figure is the entire area covered by the shape. It includes both the Interior of the figure and its Boundary.

When measuring a figure, we must be clear about what part we are referring to. Every closed figure divides a flat surface (plane) into three parts:

  1. The Interior: Everything inside the figure.

  2. The Boundary: The line or curve that forms the figure itself (the outline).

  3. The Exterior: Everything outside the figure.

CISCE: Class 6
