Menstrual Hygiene

Maintenance of hygiene and sanitation during menstruation is very important. Personal hygiene during menstruation helps to reduce the risk of infection. Using damp and dirty clothes or using a sanitary napkin for a longer time creates a perfect environment for the growth and multiplication of harmful bacteria, which can lead to infections.

Hygiene Practices During Menstruation:

  • Keep the pubic area clean.
  • Take a bath and clean yourself regularly.
  • Use sanitary napkins or clean homemade pads.
  • Change sanitary napkins every 4–5 hours as per requirement.
  • Using a sanitary napkin for a longer time creates a perfect environment for harmful bacteria to grow and multiply.
  • Maintaining personal hygiene during menstruation is important to reduce the risk of infection.
  • After handling the napkin, wash hands with soap.

Proper Disposal of Sanitary Napkins:

  • Dispose of the used sanitary napkin properly.
  • Wrap the used sanitary napkin with a used paper before disposing.
  • Do not throw used napkins in the drainpipe of toilets or in the open area.
