Introduction
The male reproductive system includes the testes, accessory ducts, accessory glands, and external genitalia. The accessory glands secrete fluids that, combined with sperms, form semen (seminal fluid). There are three types of male accessory glands.

The Three Accessory Glands
1. Seminal Vesicles
- Paired glands located behind the urinary bladder
- Secrete a fructose-rich fluid – provides energy to sperm
- Contribute approximately 60% of semen volume
2. Prostate Gland
- Single (unpaired) gland located below the urinary bladder, surrounding the urethra
- Contributes approximately 30% of semen volume
- Secretion helps activate and protect sperm
3. Bulbourethral Glands (Cowper's Glands)
- Paired glands located below the prostate
- Secrete alkaline mucus
- Lubricates the urethra and neutralises residual acidity before ejaculation
