Introduction

Human beings face stresses and strains from birth till death. Children learn social norms and dos and don'ts through socialisation. Internal and external factors can disrupt proper socialisation. This leads to asocial, unsocial, and antisocial behaviours. Such people lack prosocial behaviour. Man must give up asocial behaviour to live as a responsible member of society.

CISCE: Class 12

Effects of Antisocial Behaviour

  • Antisocial people break social norms and create confusion and disturbances.
  • They engage in murder, rape, molestation, sexual abuse, and other vicious crimes.
  • They disturb law and order and shake the peace of those around them.
  • They get pleasure from breaking existing social norms.
  • Blind obedience to norms is not acceptable, but good social norms must be followed.
CISCE: Class 12

Reasons for Changing Others' Behaviour

  • To save the individual and society from destruction.
  • To restore law and order in the country.
  • To bring back peace and happiness to people around them.
  • To help deviant personalities lead a healthy and happy life.
  • To make every person an obedient member of their social group and culture.
CISCE: Class 12

Methods of Changing Others' Behaviour

  • Children below 18 years (in India) are sent to children's homes for behaviour and attitude training.
  • Social activists and non-formal organisations work to change untoward behaviour.
  • Deviant personalities are given orientation training to reform their behaviour.
CISCE: Class 12
