| Mons pubis | A fleshy cushion of fatty tissue covered by skin and pubic hair. | Located anteriorly, above the upper margins of the vulva. |
| Labia majora | Two large, fleshy skin folds that form the outer boundary of the vulva. | Homologous to the male scrotum; contains numerous oil and sweat glands. |
| Labia minora | Two thinner, smaller skin folds lying beneath/inner to the labia majora. | Homologous to the male penile urethra; devoid of hair and sweat glands. |
