Conservation and Preservation of Heritage

Conservation and Preservation of Heritage:

  • One of the key facets of applied history is 'Cultural and Natural Heritage Management.' The Archaeological Survey of India and the State Departments of Archaeology in India are in charge of the work of conserving and preserving Cultural Heritage.
  • Also active in this area is INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage). Experts from a variety of professions must participate in the job of conserving and preserving our cultural and natural legacy. They must be fully informed about the heritage site's cultural, social, and political past. Applied historical principles can help raise awareness among them. Thus,

Things to be taken care of while managing heritage:

  1. Heritage should be conserved and preserved without causing any change to the original state of the structure.
  2. In detailed Survey of local people
  3. Not to hurt the sentiments of local people.
  4. Participation of local people.
  5. Employment of local skills in a creative livelihood.

Conservation and Preservation of Heritage:

  • Heritage site preservation and conservation are difficult tasks.
  • Ancient, medieval, and modern historical landmarks may be found in large numbers throughout our nation. The natural world is rich there as well.

  • Visitors from all around the world travel to see world heritage sites.
  • The heritage monuments in our nation attract a lot of foreign tourists.
  • When an Indian historical monument is named a world heritage site, we are really proud.
  • However, the things we see there leave us feeling extremely saddened every time we visit such sites. We learn that individuals have damaged the historical place by drawing and writing their names in charcoal. Our reputation as a country is impacted.
  • We must help fix the following in order to protect the heritage sites:
    1. I will make an effort to keep historical locations tidy.
    2. I will not take any action that would result in the destruction of a historical place.

Heritage Walks:

  • Heritage walk is organized to places of historical importance or residence of renowned persons etc.
  • It provides the chance to feel the excitement of being a part of history.
  • Heritage walks have become a well-liked organized group activity in several nations.
  • India has a long history that dates back many centuries.
  • There are historical sites from the ancient, medieval, and modern periods in every area of India.
  • A well-known 'Heritage walk' was held in Ahmedabad. Such walks are frequently held in the Maharashtrian cities of Mumbai and Pune.
  • Heritage walks may convince people to support initiatives like the preservation and protection of historical sites, as well as the gathering and publication of correct information about them in a variety of media.
  • Heritage also includes the homes of famous people who have died on. Some cities have 'blue plaques' that list the names and other necessary details of these residents.
