Steps in the Motivation Process

  • Unsatisfied Need - A person experiences a need that is not yet met.

  • Drives - Tension stimulates drives (inner urges to act).
  • Search Behaviour - The person searches for ways to satisfy the need.
  • Need Satisfied - The search leads to satisfying the need.
  • Reduction of Tension - Once satisfied, tension is relieved.
