Modern Scientific Management Concepts
- JIT Manufacturing - Inventory strategy to reduce in-process inventory and costs; uses KANBAN signals to indicate when replenishment is needed.
- Lean Manufacturing - Eliminates 7 wastes (overproduction, waiting, transportation, processing, motion, inventory, and scrap) to improve quality, reduce time and costs.
- Kaizen - Japanese for "change for better"; daily improvement activity that eliminates waste, humanizes workplace, and applies scientific method to business processes.
- Six Sigma - Data-driven approach to reduce quality variations; allows max 3–4 defects per million opportunities; requires full organisational support.
