Representing Decimals on the Number Line
The decimal representation of a number line is very similar to the representation of fractions. The left-hand side of 0 on a number line represents the negative region, and the right-hand side of 0 represents the positive region.
Steps to Represent 0.3 on a Number Line:
1. Draw a number line
2. Identify the two whole numbers between which the decimal lies
3. Divide the space between 0 and 1 into 10 equal parts
4. Count and move to the right
5. Mark the point
Example: Look at the markings on the number line for the numbers 0.7 and 6.5.
