Introduction

A D.C. (Direct Current) circuit is an electrical circuit in which current flows in one constant direction, typically supplied by a cell or battery [page:1]. Unlike alternating current, the polarity in a DC circuit does not reverse with time.

Real-life analogy: Think of a DC circuit like water flowing through a pipe from a water tank (source) to a tap (load) in one continuous direction — driven by pressure (analogous to emf), while friction inside the pipe represents resistance.
