In the questions given below, there are two statements marked as Assertion (A) and Reason (R). Read the statements and choose the correct option.
Assertion (A): Cattle breeds can be improved by superovulation and embryo transplantation at 8-32 cell stage into a surrogate mother.
Reason (R): Superovulation in high milk-yielding cows is induced by injecting with hormones.
Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true, and reason is the correct explanation of assertion.
Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true, but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.
Assertion (A) is true but reason (R) is false.
Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are false.
Assertion (A): In multiple ovulation embryos transfer—MOЕТ technology, hormones with progesterone like activity are given to the cow to induce superovulation.
Reason (R): After mating, the embryos at 4-6 celled stage are recovered and transferred to surrogate mothers.

Honeybees are social insects and provide large amounts of honey. Apiary or beekeeping is maintenance of beehives for the production of honey. A colony of honeybees is a highly complex cluster of individuals. It usually consists of a queen bee-a diploid, fertilised female capable of laying thousands of eggs per day, number of sterile diploid females-the worker bees, and some haploid male bees called drones. Bees secrete beeswax in tiny flakes by the glands present on the underside of the abdomen and mould it into honeycomb, thin-walled, back-to-back, six-sided cells. The use of the cell varies depending on the needs of the colony. Honey or pollens may be stored in some cells, while the queen lays eggs, normally one per cell. The area where the bees develop from the eggs is called the brood nest. Generally, honey is stored toward the top of the combs and pollen in the cells around the brood nest below the honey. The bees maintain a uniform temperature of about 93°F (34°C) in the brood nest regardless of the outside temperature. |

- drones
- both workers and drones
- Area where the bees undergo development from the eggs is called
- brood nest
- bees chamber
- queen nest
- honeycomb
- Where is honey stored in a honeycomb?
- in all cells of honeycomb
- towards the top cells of honey comb
- below the brood nest
- along with pollen grains in honeycomb cells
- Which of the following statements is not correct about honeycomb?
- generally there is one queen bee in a hive
- workers are sterile females
- beeswax is secreted by glands present on underside of bees abdomen
- temperature of brood nest changes with the outside temperature
