The image in a plane mirror is virtual and laterally inverted. What does this statement mean?

Solution
This statement implies that the image formed by a plane mirror cannot be produced on a screen. Thus, it is a virtual image. Further, in the image formed, the right side of an object appears as the left side and vice-versa. This is called lateral inversion.
