Besides all these battles, the entire nation is under tremendous psychological pressure. The routine life of the families of the individuals directly involved in the war is filled with anxiety. The country folk, too, remain worried about the fate of those in the army. Every intermediate victory or defeat has a direct impact on the morale of a nation. Overall, the atmosphere changes to one of fear and in some cases, anger. In the case of wars that last for a long period of time, it also puts a strain on the resources of a country. A war thus impacts involved countries on many different levels that span beyond a battlefield.
