उत्तर

On January 4 and 5, the voyagers were completely tired after the rigorous practice of continuous pumping. It was on January 4 that they ate their first meal in almost two days. After a short respite, they continued to face bad weather conditions and by the morning of January 5, the situation grew desperate.

The narrator tried to comfort the children. But it is worth noting that in spite of so many difficulties, the children displayed immense fearlessness. Jonathan confessed that they are not afraid to die as long as they all are together. Though this inspired the narrator to fight the sea, by that evening he was sure that their end was fast approaching. It was only because of the moral support of his children that he continued to make efforts.

Coronary bypass surgery is undoubtedly a very significant achievement of modern medical science. But one ponders over certain pertinent questions such as the cost involved and the ultimate benefit.
The human heart is nothing but a four-chambered muscular pump that supplies blood to all parts of the body. Being an active pump, the heart itself requires a lot of energy and receives its own blood supply via certain vessels called coronary arteries. By a process called “atherosclerosis”, fat particles are deposited on the inner wall of the lumen of the coronary arteries which eventually reduce the size of the lumen and produce obstruction to the free flow of blood. The portion of the heart which suffers from lack of blood supply becomes weaker as a pump and gives rise to a typical chest pain called “angina”. When such blockage is total, the corresponding heart muscle dies and then one suffers a “heart attack”. In all these circumstances, heart surgeons perform a special type of operation known as “coronary bypass surgery”.
In this surgery, a blood vessel is taken (usually from the leg of the patient) and then grafted on the heart in such a way that when blood flows through, it bypasses the narrow segment of the diseased coronary artery. The concept is to divert the flow from the narrow artery, inside which there is already a ‘traffic congestion’ and in this respect, it is synonymous with road bypass.

Read the passage and write a summary of it. Suggest a suitable title to the summary

A sparrow is a small bird which is found throughout the world. There are many different species of sparrows. Sparrows are only about four to six inches in length. Many people appreciate their beautiful songs. Sparrows prefer to build their nests in low places-usually on the ground clumps of grass low trees and low bushes. In cities, they build their nests in building nooks or holes. They rarely build their nests in high places. They build their nests out of twigs grasses and plant fibers. Their nests are usually small and well-built structures.

Female sparrows lay four to six eggs at a time. The eggs are white with reddish-brown spots. They hatch within eleven to fourteen days. Both the male and female parents care for the young. Insects are fed to the young after hatching. The large feet of the sparrows are used for scratching seeds. Adult sparrows mainly eat seeds. Sparrows can be found almost everywhere where there are humans. Many people throughout the world enjoy these delightful birds.

The sparrows are some of the few birds that engage in dust bathing. Sparrows will first scratch a hole in the ground with their feet then lie in it and fling dirt or sand over their bodies with flicks of their wings. They will also bathe in water or in dry or melting snow. Water bathing is similar to dust bathing with the sparrow standing in shallow water and flicking water over its back with its wings also ducking its head under the water. Both activities are social with up to a hundred birds participating at once and are followed by preening and sometimes group singing.
