I wanted to pursue Warli painting classes, but could not find any professional artist near my residence to coach me. I looked for online classes but failed in that attempt too. I asked my friends to check near their residential areas in and around Mumbai, still I failed to gather any positive news. Finally, one fine morning, while I was travelling back from college, I met a middleaged lady who was carrying a handbag with Warli artwork on it. I was instantly drawn to that bag and she noticed my expression. She ended up asking me about my interest in her bag. I was embarrassed at first but then told her about my love for Warli painting. She had a smile on her face. She told me that she belonged to Palghar district and that her forefathers dealt in that art. My happiness knew no bounds when at last, I got to know that I could take classes from her, starting from the upcoming Sunday.

One experience that stands out in my life, similar to a writer’s pursuit, was my journey to learn guitar. Initially, I was fascinated by how musicians could create beautiful melodies and wanted to play like them. I started without any knowledge, struggling even to hold the guitar properly, let alone play any chords. Every day after school, I dedicated an hour to practice. My fingers would ache from pressing the strings, and there were days I felt frustrated, doubting if I could ever reach my goal.
Gradually, with persistence and small daily improvements, I learned basic chords. I could play simple songs, which fueled my determination. After months of practice, I reached a point where I could confidently perform songs I loved. The experience taught me that dedication, even in the face of challenges, leads to success. Reaching that goal was incredibly fulfilling and reminded me that with consistent effort, any pursuit becomes achievable.

According to some experts, a staggering 93 percent of our daily communication is non-verbal. Facial expressions are easy to decipher. One can readily detect happiness, sadness, anger. Physicians can tell a patient is doing well (or not) by looking at his/her face. Eye contact is another type of non-verbal communication, which can tell a lot about the other person. The eyes convey a range of emotions-happiness, sadness, boredom, surprise, confidence ..... even emotional interest. In fact staring into someone's eyes is a sign of lying, and so is looking away. In certain cultures, lack of eye contact is taken as a sign of respect. Frequent blinking is a sign of the person feeling distressed or uncomfortable. If the pupils are dilated, it often indicates interest, even emotional interest.
