Ethanol:

Differentiation between Methanol & Ethanol:

Iodoform test: Ethanol gives yellow ppt (CHI₃); methanol gives no reaction.

With salicylic acid + H₂SO₄: Methanol forms methyl salicylate (characteristic odour); ethanol gives no specific odour.
