Question

State any two characteristics of a series LCR AC resonance circuit.

Short/Brief Note

Solution

  1. Resonance occurs when XL = XC.
  2. Resonant frequency fr = `1/(2pisqrt"LC")`
  3. Impedance is minimum and the circuit is purely resistive.
  4. Current has a maximum value.
  5. When a number of frequencies are fed to it, it accepts only one frequency (fr) and rejects the other frequencies. The current is maximum for this frequency. Hence it is called the acceptor circuit.
