Question

In the LCR series circuit, what is the condition for current resonance?

Short/Brief Note

Solution

When the frequency of the applied e.m.f source is adjusted so that at a particular frequency XL = XC then Z = R. Thus the circuit behaves like a purely resistive circuit. The impedance of the circuit is minimum and the current is maximum. The current and e.m.f of the source are in phase.
