Question

State any one characteristic of a parallel LC AC resonance circuit.

Short/Brief Note

Solution

  1. Resonance occurs when XL = XC.
  2. Resonant frequency fr = `1/(2pisqrt"LC")`
  3. Impedance is maximum.
  4. Current is minimum.
  5. When the alternating current of different frequencies is sent through the parallel resonant circuit, it offers a very high impedance to the current of the resonant frequency (fr) and rejects it. However, it allows the current of the other frequencies to pass through it, hence called a rejector circuit.
