TS || BE and BS is transversal.
∴ ∠SBE = ∠TBS = 40° ...[Alternative interior angles]
Also, ∠y = 90° ...[Diagonals bisect at 90°]
In ΔTSO, ∠STO + ∠TSO = ∠SOE
x + 40° = 90°
⇒ x = 50° ...[Exterior angle property of triangle]
∴ y – x = 90° – 50° = 40°
