उत्तर
We can balance the given equation by oxidation number method-
\[\ce{\overset{0}{I2} + \overset{+2}{S2}\overset{-2}{O^{2-}3} -> \overset{-1}{I-} + \overset{+2.5}{S4}O^{2-}6}\]
Total increase in O.N. = 0.5 × 4 = 2
Total increase in O.N. = 1 × 2 = 2
To equilize O.N. multiply \[\ce{S2O^{2-}3}\] and \[\ce{I-}\] by 2.
\[\ce{I2 + 2S2O^{2-}3 -> 2I- + S4O^{2-}6}\]
