A consumer court can pass one or more of the following directions to grant relief to a consumer who has been wronged:

  1. To rectify the defect in goods or the deficiency in the service.
  2. To replace the defective product with a new product free from defects.
  3. To refund the amount paid for the product or service.
  4. To provide reasonable compensation for any loss or injury suffered by the consumer due to the seller’s negligence.
  5. To impose punitive damages, if appropriate.
  6. To put an end to unfair or restrictive trade practices and prevent them in the future.
  7. To prohibit the sale of hazardous goods.
  8. To withdraw hazardous goods from the market.
  9. To stop the manufacture of hazardous goods and to avoid offering dangerous services.
