Solution

The electronic configuration of:

A (17) = 2, 8, 7

B (19) = 2, 8, 8, 1

C (10) = 2, 8

    1. Element A has 7 electrons in its outermost shell it is a non-metal.
    2. Element B is a metal because there is only 1 valence electron in B.
    3. Eklement C is chemically inert element because there are 8 valence electrons in C.
  1. The formula of the compound formed by two of the above elements is BA. The reason being, B loses an electron and A gains that electron to form an ionic bond.
