उत्तर
‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ is a fairy-tale classic. There are many versions of the story. It is a story of a beautiful girl, who is the victim of her step-mother’s jealousy. It is set in a kingdom with a huge castle surrounded by forests and mountains all around. The story has beautiful descriptions about the characters and the surroundings, taking one to a fairy-tale world. The incidents described in the book are quite detailed and give the reader the satisfaction of having read a good book. The title is apt as the story revolves around Snow White’s life and the time she spends with the seven dwarfs. The contents of the story are properly arranged and help the reader in building the connection between the events. Since the book is a classic tale that has been around for years, the language used in the initial versions of the book is a bit difficult for children to understand. All the characters are either purely good or extremely evil. They are all well-defined. The book brings forward the theme of the victory of good over evil and makes one believe in ‘happily-ever-after’. For ages, the book has been a favourite amongst young girls as it deals with the topic of dreams and aspirations of a young girl and her ideal world. Though the dreams of each reader may be different, it conveys that dreams can become a reality, and miracles do happen. Through the years, the story has been adopted into plays, movies, and various other forms, but reading it is a magical experience like no other. It has often been criticised for its overly dreamy narration. Critics find it too good to be true and also feel that many elements are unrealistic. But from a different perspective, it is based on imagination and not on real life. It shows that even the seemingly untrue, may turn out to be true. One just needs to believe in the magic of the universe.
