Solution

The Simon Commission

New Delhi, 15 January 1928

In response to India’s nationalist movement, Britain’s new Tory government established a Statutory Commission led by Sir John Simon. The Commission will investigate how India’s constitutional system operates and provide suggestions for changes. It seems remarkable that, despite the fact that the commission’s purpose is to investigate an Indian problem, no Indian has been appointed as a member.

All of the members were British. This is a grave injustice. Indians must speak out against it and oppose it at all levels in order for the British government to include Indians on the Commission.
