The Jallianwalla Bagh massacre

Baisakhi is celebrated today. This day is celebrated with pomp and celebration in Punjab. The festival marks the establishment of the Khalsa panth, or Sikh order, on Baisakhi Day, April 13, 1699, by the tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh. It also marks the harvest season in Punjab and Haryana.
In celebration of Baisakhi, a big crowd of nonviolent demonstrators opposing the government’s policy, as well as pilgrims, assembled in Jallianwala Bagh. There were many thousands of men, women, and children present. People had arrived from the surrounding villages of Amritsar. It was a calm gathering, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.
General Dyer had declared martial law in the city. However, the announcement was not made properly. People who had come from outside were unaware of it.
The Bagh-space was 6 to 7 acres in size and surrounded by walls on all sides. General Dyer was unable to endure the gathering. He arrived with his forces and instructed them to fire on the throng for ten minutes, focusing their bullets primarily on the gates through which people were attempting to exit.
The firing continued until all of the ammunition was used up. Following the massacre, the injured were left without medical assistance. The precise number of casualties is unknown. It included people of all ages, including children, women, the young, and the elderly. It is an injustice to the people of Punjab.
