Athletes are under pressure to make weight in weight-category sports like boxing, wrestling, and weightlifting. Unhealthy behaviours like crash diets, dehydration, abusing laxatives and diuretics, and vomiting or purging before competitions could result from this. Anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating are among the eating disorders that are more likely to develop when intense weight control and body image pressure are applied repeatedly.
