Solve the following:
`(9 - 3y)/(1 - 9y) = 8/5`
Advertisements
Solution
Given, `(9 - 3y)/(1 - 9y) = 8/5`
⇒ 5(9 – 3y) = 8(1 – 9y) ...[By cross-multiplication]
⇒ 45 – 15y = 8 – 72y
⇒ 72y – 15y = 8 – 45 ...[Transposing – 72y to LHS and 45 to RHS]
⇒ 57y = – 37
⇒ `(57y)/57 = (-37)/57` ...[Dividing both sides by 57]
∴ `y = (-37)/57`
