Question
Solve the following:
`x/2 - 1/4(x - 1/3) = 1/6(x + 1) + 1/12`
Advertisements
Solution
From the given equation
`x/2 - 1/4(x - 1/3) = 1/6(x + 1) + 1/12`
⇒ `x/2 - x/4 + 1/12 = x/6 + 1/6 + 1/12`
⇒ `(2x - x)/4 + 1/12 = x/6 + (2 + 1)/12`
⇒ `x/4 + 1/12 = x/6 + 3/12`
⇒ `x/4 - x/6 = 3/12 - 1/12`
⇒ `(6x - 4x)/24 = (3 - 1)/12`
⇒ `(2x)/24 = 2/12`
⇒ 24x = 48
⇒ x = 2
