Ratio of area of ∆MNO to the area of parallelogram MNOP in the same figure is 1 : 2.

= `1/2` × Base × Height : Base × Corresponding height
= `1/2` × NO × OQ : MP × OQ
= `1/2` × NO : NO ...[∵ NO = MP]
= 1 : 2
Hence, the required ratio is 1 : 2.
