If the numerator of a fraction is increased by 50% and the denominator is decreased by 20%, then it becomes `3/5`. Find the original fraction

Solution
Original fraction = `x/y`
Numerator increased by 50%
∴ Numerator = `150/100 x`
Denominator decreased by 20%
∴ Denominator = `80/100 y`
Hence
`(150/100 x)/(80/100 y) = 3/5`
`(15/10 x)/(8/10 y) = 3/5`
`(15x)/10 xx 10/(8x) = 3/5`
`x/y = 3/5 xx 8/15 = 8/25`
