- It developed during the 12th–13th century under the Yadava dynasty and is named after Hemadpant, a minister in the Yadava court, under whose patronage it spread.
- Many temples in Maharashtra were built in this style, and they are known as Hemadpanti temples.
- The temples are known for their simplicity, strength, and durability, with plain but massive stone walls and limited ornamentation.
- Examples of this style of temples include the Aundha Nagnath Temple (Hingoli district), Gondeshwar Temple (Sinnar, Nashik), and Ambreshwar Temple (Ambarnath, near Mumbai).
