  1. As the infant grows, his nutrient requirement grows too. He slowly has to be weaned off breast milk and get used to supplementary or complementary food.
  2. Complementary feeding should start when the child is 4-6 months old, as breast milk alone cannot meet the increasing nutritional needs of the growing baby. But breast feeding must continue up to about 11/2 years of age.
