Question
Examine the collinearity of the following set of point:
`"L"(0, 1/2), "M"(2, -1), "N"(-4, 7/2)`
Advertisements
Solution
Given : `"L"(0, 1/2), "M"(2, -1), "N"(-4, 7/2)`
∴ area of ΔLMN = `1/2|(0, 1/2, 1),(2, -1, 1),(-4, 7/2, 1)|`
= `1/2[0 - 1/2(2 + 4) + 1(7 - 4)]`
= `1/2[-1/2(6) + 1(3)]`
= `1/2(-3 + 3)`
= 0
∴ L, M, N are collinear.
