  Respiration Combustion
1. It takes place within live cells. The process is noncellular.
2. The process of respiration is biochemical. The process of combustion is physio-chemical.
3. The majority of energy is held within ATP molecules. No ATP is produced.
4. At the conclusion of the process (terminal oxidation) between reduced coenzymes and oxygen, oxidation takes place. During combustion, the substrate is directly oxidised.

6. Many intermediates are created. They are employed in the production of several organic chemicals. In combustion, no intermediates are formed.

9. Temperature is not allowed to rise. Temperature becomes very high.
