An electric bulb is connected to a 220 V power supply line. If the bulb draws a current of 0.5 A, calculate the power of the bulb.

Solution

Here, V = 220 V and I = 0.5 A                

  (given)
Power drawn by the device is given by:
                    P = VI

Therefore:
                   P = 220 x 0.5
                      = 110 W
