Write the degree of the following polynomial:
3y3 − x2y2 + 4x
Advertisements
Solution
Given: 3y3 − x2y2 + 4x
3y3 → Only variable: y3 → Exponent = 3
Degree = 3
– x2y2 → Only variable: x2 and y2 → Exponent = 2 + 2
Degree = 4
4x → Only variable: x → Exponent = 1
Degree = 1
∴ The highest degree among them is: 4
∴ The degree of 3y3 – x2y2 + 4x is 4 as x2.
