Solution

  1. The Indian Peninsula refers to the area lying south of the North Indian Plains that tapers towards the Indian Ocean.
  2. It consists of many plateaus and hill ranges. The Aravalis, in the north, are the oldest fold mountains in the area.
  3. It includes a succession of plateaus that border the plain. The northern section of the peninsula is divided into plateaus from west to east, Mewad, Malwa, Budelkhand, Baghelkhand, and Chota Nagpur. The Deccan Plateau is a triangular landmass located to the south of the Narmada River.
  4. The Vindyas and Satpudas ranges are in the centre, while the Western Ghats and Eastern Ghats form the western and eastern boundaries of the Deccan Plateau, respectively.
