- It includes a succession of plateaus that border the plain. The northern section of the peninsula is divided into plateaus from west to east, Mewad, Malwa, Budelkhand, Baghelkhand, and Chota Nagpur. The Deccan Plateau is a triangular landmass located to the south of the Narmada River.
- The Vindyas and Satpudas ranges are in the centre, while the Western Ghats and Eastern Ghats form the western and eastern boundaries of the Deccan Plateau, respectively.
