Bertie claimed that he had not seen his mom Mrs. Saltpen-Jago for about six months, because he had gone for yachting. As he had overheard Mr. Sletherby’s intention of visiting Mrs. Saltpen-Jago at Brill Manor he introduced himself as Bertie, Mrs. Saltpen’s younger son. He had lost his sovereign purse.
