Solution

Supernatural elements are used throughout Julius Caesar to create fear, suspense and a sense of approaching disaster.

The violent storm, thunder and lightning, the slave whose hand burns without being harmed, the lion near the Capitol and the owl seen at noon are all unnatural signs. Calpurnia’s frightening dream and the priests finding no heart in the sacrificed animal also suggest danger.

These supernatural events warn of Caesar’s coming death and reflect the disorder in Rome. They also help Shakespeare build tension before the assassination.
