Solution

The Globe Theatre was a famous theatre in London associated with William Shakespeare and his acting company. It was built in 1599 and many of Shakespeare’s plays were performed there.

The theatre was circular or polygonal in shape, with an open central yard and galleries around it. Wealthier spectators sat in the galleries, while poorer people stood in the yard near the stage.

There was very little scenery, so costumes, dialogue, music and acting were important in creating the setting. The Globe Theatre played a major role in making Shakespeare’s plays popular among people of different social classes.
