- Ovulation. It is the release of a mature egg from the ovary into the fallopian tube.
- Corpus luteum. The corpus luteum appears soon after ovulation, when an egg is released from the ovary. The corpus luteum's primary role is to secrete hormones (progesterone) that prepare the uterus to sustain growth.
