x2 + ax − bx − ab = 0
(x2 + ax) − (bx + ab) = 0
x(x + a) − b(x + a) = 0
(x − b) (x + a) = 0
x − b = 0
⇒ x = b
x + a = 0
⇒ x = −a
x = b or x = −a
