Solution
Nasir travelled by a bus = `3 1/2` km = `7/2` km
Nasir walked = `1 1/8` km = `9/8` km
∴ Total distance travelled by him = `7/2` km + `9/8` km
= `(7 xx 4)/(2 xx 4)` km + `9/8` km ...[∵ L.C.M. of 2 and 8 is 8]
= `(28/8 + 9/8)` km
= `((28 + 9)/8)` km
= `37/8` km or `4 5/8` km
