Solution

  • Countries in Stage 4 – Low Stationary are generally considered developed. In some developed countries, population may also enter Stage 5 – Declining.
  • Pyramid C represents a developed country because it has a narrow base, lower birth rate and comparatively larger adult and elderly population.
  • Population plays an important role in regional development. A large working-age and skilled population can support production, services and economic growth. However, very high dependency, unemployment or rapid population growth may create pressure on resources and infrastructure. Therefore, the age structure, skills, health and productivity of population are important for development.
