Solution

If the thickness of a pile of 12 cardboard sheets is 45 mm, then the thickness of a pile of 240 sheets is 90 cm.

Explanation:

The thickness of a pile of 12 cardboard sheets = 45 mm

∴ The thickness of a pile of 1 cardboard sheet = `45/12 mm`

So, the thickness of a pile of 240 cardboard sheets = `45/12 xx 240  mm`

= 45 × 20

= 900 mm

= `900/10 cm`  ...`[∵ 1 mm = 1/10 cm]`

= 90 cm
