Solution

Let the cost of cloth required be x.

Cost of cloth in ₹ 15 x
Length of cloth in meters `1/2` `8 1/3 = 25/3`

Cost and length are in direct proportion.

∴ `(x_1)/(y_1) = (x_2)/(y_2), 15/(1/2) = x/(25/3)`

`15 xx 25/3 = x xx 1/2`

`x xx 1/2` = 125

x = 125 × 2

x = 250

∴ Cost of `8 1/3` m of cloth = ₹ 250.
